From December 3 to 5, a delegation from the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Ocean University of China (OUC), led by Du Junhua, Secretary of the College Party Committee, and Cui Hongzhi, Dean of the College, conducted a research visit to the Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IDSSE, CAS), the Sanya Institute of Oceanography, Ocean University of China, and the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Hainan University.
At the Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering, CAS, Dean Cui Hongzhi introduced the College’s recent development and research achievements, particularly in the areas of marine equipment materials, marine energy materials, and marine environmental materials. Chen Shun, Director of the Research Administration Office of IDSSE, presented an overview of the institute and highlighted its technical needs in high-precision deep-sea sensing, evaluation of material adaptability to deep-sea environments, and deep-sea energy and environmental materials. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on joint research initiatives, collaborative postgraduate training, and graduate employment.

During the visit to the Sanya Institute of Oceanography, OUC, Dean Cui introduced the College’s recent progress and future plans in discipline and program development, talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, and faculty development. Yan Ju, former Vice President of OUC and Party Secretary and President of the Sanya Institute of Oceanography, spoke highly of the College’s recent achievements, offered suggestions on strengthening research teams and refining research directions, and outlined the institute’s strategic positioning and development priorities. Discussions were held on potential avenues for further cooperation.

At the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Hainan University, Dean Deng Yida and Dean Cui Hongzhi respectively introduced their colleges’ development histories and current status in talent training, scientific research, social service, and team building. The two sides exchanged views on scientific research collaboration, cultivation of teaching achievements, Party-building initiatives, and internationalization. The delegation also visited the Picoscale Electron Microscopy Center at Hainan University.

This research visit strengthened exchanges and cooperation between the College and peer institutions and provided valuable input for the formulation of the College’s 15th Five-Year Development Plan. Members of the College leadership team and representatives of young faculty members participated in the visit.
