On the afternoon of April 9, 2025, the Baichuan Forum, hosted by the Graduate School of Ocean University of China and organized by the School of Materials Science and Engineering, commenced in Room 212 of the Materials Science Building. Dr. Liu Qingchun, Director of the Polymer Chemistry Research Center at Jingbo Research Institute, was invited as the keynote speaker to deliver a lecture titled Synthesis and Application of Industrial Rubber.
Dr. Liu introduced the fundamental concepts of rubber and performance characteristics prioritized across downstream industries. He detailed the synthesis processes of several industrial rubbers and their applications in diverse industrial sectors. Presenting cutting-edge developments in the rubber industry, he highlighted Jingbo Group’s innovations in synthetic rubber, particularly the latest advancements in bio-based itaconate ester rubber. This breakthrough resulted from Jingbo’s collaboration with Academician Zhang Liqun’s team, aligning with China’s Dual Carbon strategy.
The lecture sparked great interest among attending faculty and students. During the Q&A session, Dr. Liu engaged in in-depth discussions on rubber synthesis techniques and applications, addressing numerous questions with expertise and patience.
