On April 25, Wu Lixin, Vice President of Ocean University of China (OUC), Director of Laoshan Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), conducted a research and guidance visit to the School of Materials Science and Engineering. He was accompanied by Li Yan, Assistant President of OUC and Director of the Science and Technology Department. Du Junhua, Party Secretary of the School, presided over the symposium.

After listening to a report by Cui Hongzhi, Dean of the School, on the School’s development progress, Wu Lixin acknowledged its rapid growth and achievements in recent years. He emphasized that the School must prioritize serving major national strategic needs, particularly in advancing China’s maritime power. He urged the School to: Focus on refining research directions to elevate 1–2 fields to national leadership; Strengthen benchmarking and exchanges to stay aligned with global materials science frontiers; Actively engage in Laoshan Laboratory’s research on deep-sea materials to jointly support maritime power.
