To deepen university-regional collaboration and promote industry-academia-research synergy, a delegation led by Cui Zhongyu, Vice Dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, conducted a research tour in Yancheng from April 13 to 14. The delegation visited the Xifu River Green Low-Carbon Science and Technology Innovation Park and engaged with enterprises in Dafeng District.
Exploring the Xifu River Science and Technology Exhibition Hall
At the Xifu River Green Low-Carbon Science and Technology Innovation Park, Zhao Yongheng, Party Member and Deputy Director of the park, accompanied the delegation on a tour of its science and technology exhibition hall. Zhao detailed the park’s development since its establishment, highlighting achievements in building seven strategic industrial clusters: wind power, photovoltaics, hydrogen energy, energy storage, carbon neutrality, marine technology, and agriculture. Notable projects showcased included the localization of core materials for offshore wind power and demonstration projects for hydrogen energy storage and transportation equipment.
Roundtable Discussions
During the symposium, Cui Zhongyu introduced the college’s research strengths in marine equipment materials, marine anticorrosion materials, and new energy battery materials. He emphasized that the college’s strategic priorities align closely with the park’s industrial goals and proposed leveraging the university’s fundamental research capabilities to collaborate with park enterprises on marine engineering equipment and new energy materials. Xue Feng, Deputy Director of the park’s management office, suggested establishing a joint innovation center to create a full-chain platform spanning basic research, technological development, and engineering applications. He also proposed that local governments adopt a combination of grants and investments to support forward-looking innovation and accelerate the translation of feasible projects into practice. The two sides reached preliminary agreements on collaboration in marine equipment technology, green energy materials R&D, and talent cultivation.
Field Visits to Dafeng District Enterprises
At the invitation of Dafeng District’s Science and Technology Town Delegation, the delegation conducted field visits to local enterprises. Accompanied by Wu Yaping, Deputy Director of Yancheng Municipal Development and Reform Commission and Head of the Dafeng Science and Technology Town Delegation, the group inspected Dafeng Port Phase II Terminal, Jiangsu Haiheng Wind Power Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Goldwind Science & Technology’s Mega-Watt Six-Degree-of-Freedom Turbine Transmission Test Platform, and Zhongtian Dafeng Submarine Cable Co., Ltd. At each site, the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with corporate leaders on technical cooperation, commercialization of research outcomes, and innovation challenges in production processes, laying a solid foundation for future industry-academia-research partnerships.
Faculty members specializing in related research areas participated in the visit.
