On October 18-20, 2024, the 5th Symposium on Lithium-ion Batteries and New Generation Battery Materials was held at the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Ocean University of China. The conference attracted top scholars and young talents from China, Japan and South Korea, and was an international seminar focusing on cutting-edge technology and future development trends in the field of battery materials, aiming to jointly discuss the latest research results and application prospects of battery materials.
The symposium was hosted by Ocean University of China and supported by well-known Chinese universities and research institutions such as Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Process, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tianjin University of Technology and NEWARE. The main goal of the conference is to build an international exchange platform, promote academic exchanges and cooperation among China, Japan and South Korea in the field of battery materials, and promote technological innovation and development.
During the two-day seminar, participants had in-depth discussions on topics such as innovative design, performance improvement and industrial application of battery materials, shared the latest research results and methods, and had warm exchanges on hot issues of common concern. Three senior experts from Japan made academic reports on the research and development, performance optimization and industrial application of battery materials; Four professors from South Korea shared their latest research results in theoretical research, material design and preparation. Scholars from the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and BioProcesses of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tianjin University of Technology also reported the latest progress in the field of solid electrolyte materials. Professor Jin Yongcheng and Professor Liu Wei from the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Ocean University of China respectively reported their latest achievements in the positive and negative materials of lithium-ion batteries.
The participants generally agreed that battery materials, as an important part of new energy technologies, are of great significance in promoting global energy transformation and sustainable development. In the future, China, Japan and the ROK should strengthen cooperation and exchanges in this field, jointly promote technological innovation and development, and contribute to the construction of a clean, low-carbon and efficient energy system.
As one of the series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ocean University of China, the seminar was successfully held, which not only provided a valuable exchange platform for experts and scholars from China, Japan and South Korea, but also enhanced the international influence of Ocean University of China in the field of battery research. On this basis, the School will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with domestic and foreign scientific research institutions, and strive to achieve more breakthrough results in the field of battery materials.
