On the morning of October 23, 2024, Professor Christopher Sumby, Dean of the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the University of Adelaide, Australia, and Rosa Rios of AEMG Education Group visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Ocean University of China. Liu Wei, Deputy Dean of the School and faculty representatives of the School received the visiting guests.

Liu Wei first extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Adelaide, and briefly introduced the basic situation, development history and main scientific research achievements of the University in recent years. Professor Christopher Sumby expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception of the School, introduced the basic situation of the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the University of Adelaide, and expressed his strong desire to cooperate with the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Ocean University of China. The two sides have carried out heated discussions on teaching cooperation, research project application, joint training of postgraduates, etc. In terms of teaching, the two sides discussed the forms of cooperation such as jointly setting up courses and exchanging teachers to teach. In terms of scientific research, the two sides have reached preliminary consensus on jointly applying for scientific research projects, sharing scientific research resources, and carrying out joint experiments. In terms of joint training of graduate students, the two sides indicated that they will actively promote mutual visits of students, joint training of doctors and other forms of cooperation, and jointly train high-level talents with international vision and innovative ability.

The visit not only deepened the friendship and understanding between the School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the University of Adelaide and the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Ocean University of China, but also pointed out the direction for future cooperation between the two sides. The two sides expressed that they will take this visit as an opportunity to further strengthen communication and contact, promote the implementation and deepening of various cooperation matters, and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to the development of materials science.
