On August6, the provincial science and technology conference was held in Jinan to solemnly honor the winners of the 2025 Provincial Science and Technology Award. Professor Cui Hongzhi, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, was awarded the highest science and technology award in Shandong Province for 2025. He is the fifth scientist from the university to receive this honor, following Academicians Guan Huashi, Wu Lixin, Li Huajun, and Bao Zhenmin.

Cui Hongzhi represents 2025 Speeches by the recipients of the Annual Provincial Science and Technology Award. She expressed gratitude to the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Government, and leaders at all levels who have long cared for and supported the development of science and technology. She emphasized, The surface is in the equipment, but the root lies in the material. Without solid new materials, the localization of major equipment is just empty talk. It is precisely this sense of urgency that has driven her and her team for decades to always focus on technological frontiers and industry needs, adhering to the research philosophy of materials must be made into materials, materials must be made into tools, and tools must be easy to use. They have focused on the most urgently needed corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant, and impact-resistant materials in the country's deep-sea and deep-earth fields, continuously tackling and innovating and iterating. The series of developed materials and technologies have been successfully applied in major projects such as manned deep submersibles, large dredging equipment, and deep earth mining equipment, providing solid material support for a batch of Made in Shandong high-end equipment and enabling more people to carry Shandong Intelligent Manufacturing. Advanced materials from the imprint go deep blue, protecting heavy equipment.
