The School of Materials Science and Engineering convened a faculty and staff meeting on July 14. The meeting was chaired by Du Junhua, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School.

During the meeting, Du Junhua led faculty and staff in studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on workplace safety and the University's Emergency Response Plan for Public Incidents. She also conveyed the University's requirements for ensuring campus safety and stability during the summer recess and presented a safety awareness session based on recent major accident cases reported across the country. Emphasizing the importance of workplace safety, she called on all faculty and staff to recognize the current challenges facing safety management, firmly uphold the principle of safe development, fully implement preventive measures, and conscientiously fulfill their safety responsibilities.
Du Junhua also communicated the key messages from the University's employment affairs meeting. She stressed that graduate employment serves as an important indicator of the quality of talent cultivation and called for the continued implementation of an institution-wide approach to supporting student employment, with the goal of promoting high-quality and full employment for graduates.
Dean Cui Hongzhi reviewed the School's achievements during the first half of the year in areas including Party building and ideological education, faculty recruitment and development, educational and teaching reform, scientific research and innovation, discipline development, and international exchange and cooperation. She expressed appreciation for the dedication and hard work of all faculty and staff and outlined the School's priorities for the summer period and the upcoming summer–autumn semester. She encouraged faculty members to make effective use of the summer by balancing rest and professional development while ensuring the continuity of teaching and research activities, thereby laying a solid foundation for the School's high-quality development.
Cui Zhongyu, Vice Dean of the School, reported on the findings of the University's special inspection of laboratory safety. He called on all laboratory directors to fulfill their responsibilities as the primary persons accountable for laboratory safety, conduct comprehensive self-inspections and corrective actions, and ensure that all laboratory safety requirements are effectively implemented. Other members of the School's leadership team also provided detailed briefings and arrangements regarding their respective areas of responsibility.
The meeting also included a by-election for members of the School's Trade Union Committee. All faculty and staff of the School attended the meeting.
