The School Launches a Series of Student Recruitment and Science Outreach Activities

To further strengthen cooperation with high schools that serve as key sources of outstanding students, comprehensively showcase the University's educational strengths, disciplinary characteristics, and achievements in talent cultivation, and attract high-caliber applicants through targeted outreach, the School of Materials Science and Engineering organized nearly 60 science outreach lectures, undergraduate admissions presentations, and on-site consultation events across Henan and Shandong provinces from April to June. Members of the School's leadership team and faculty representatives visited leading high schools in multiple regions, building effective communication channels between the University and secondary schools while advancing the School's admissions outreach initiatives.


  Faculty members traveled in groups to more than ten cities in Henan Province, including Zhengzhou, Jiaozuo, Jiyuan, Pingdingshan, Shangqiu, Luohe, Sanmenxia, Xuchang, Anyang, Xinxiang, Hebi, Zhoukou, and Zhumadian, to participate in local university admissions fairs. The consultation sessions attracted strong interest from prospective students and their parents, who raised questions on the University's distinctive educational features, academic programs, curriculum design, career prospects, and Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. Based on individual students' academic backgrounds and interests, faculty members provided detailed guidance on major selection, subject requirements, and application strategies, helping students make informed decisions while fostering meaningful interaction with local schools, students, and families.


  The School also organized admissions consultation activities at several key high schools in Shandong Province, including Jiaozhou No. 1 High School, Jiaozhou Experimental High School, Pingdu No. 1 High School, and Pingdu No. 9 High School. During these events, faculty members introduced the University's admissions policies, program requirements, and talent cultivation system in detail, and engaged in in-depth discussions with students and parents on topics such as university applications, major selection, and future academic and career development, ensuring that admissions information was communicated accurately and effectively.


  In addition, several professors from the School delivered themed science outreach lectures and admissions presentations at high schools in Pingdu and Jiaozhou, Shandong Province, as well as Jiaozuo, Kaifeng, Shangqiu, and Zhengzhou in Henan Province. Focusing on the frontiers of materials science and the School's strengths in research and education, the speakers explained the applications of materials science in everyday life, advanced manufacturing, and new energy technologies through engaging and accessible presentations. They also introduced the University's academic programs, faculty resources, graduate education opportunities, career development pathways, and talent cultivation model, helping students gain a deeper understanding of materials science while stimulating their interest in the discipline. In parallel, faculty members held face-to-face information sessions for parents, providing detailed explanations of admissions policies and addressing questions related to academic planning and university applications, thereby supporting students in making well-informed decisions about their future education.

  Looking ahead, the School will continue to optimize its admissions outreach strategies, strengthen long-term partnerships with key feeder schools, and expand the regular implementation of science outreach lectures and admissions presentations. Through more targeted and effective engagement, the School aims to better communicate its educational philosophy and achievements, further consolidate cooperation with high-quality source schools, attract outstanding prospective students, and contribute to the University's continued excellence in talent cultivation.
