On July 14, Du Junhua, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Cui Hongzhi, Dean of the School, led the School's leadership team on a visit to the School of Materials Science and Engineering at China University of Petroleum (East China) for academic exchange. During the visit, faculty members also participated in a national conditions study program at the University's History Museum, a National Education Base for Promoting the Spirit of Scientists.
Research symposium
During the meeting, Dean Cui Hongzhi noted that Ocean University of China is distinguished by its strengths in marine sciences, while China University of Petroleum (East China) has well-established expertise in petroleum and petrochemical disciplines. Given the close alignment between the two schools in academic programs and research directions, she emphasized the broad potential for collaboration in areas such as joint student education, co-development of research platforms, and shared use of scientific facilities.
Du Junhua highlighted that the strategic cooperation agreement recently signed between the two universities provides a solid foundation for deeper collaboration between the two schools. She expressed the hope that both sides would establish a long-term communication mechanism, strengthen institutional coordination, and work together to advance the high-quality development of materials science and engineering at both universities.
Wu Chuande, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at China University of Petroleum (East China), stated that the two institutions each possess distinctive strengths in materials science and engineering. He expressed the hope that the two schools would build on their complementary advantages by jointly applying for major research platforms, pursuing high-impact scientific achievements, and carrying out substantive and practical cooperation.
Sun Qilong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at China University of Petroleum (East China), emphasized that closer cooperation between the two schools represents a concrete step in implementing the strategic partnership established by their respective universities. He affirmed the School's commitment to promoting effective collaboration with sincerity and a pragmatic approach.
Representatives from both schools introduced their respective institutional profiles, and members of the leadership teams engaged in in-depth discussions on future cooperation.
Prior to the symposium, nearly 30 faculty members from the School participated in a national conditions study program at the History Museum of China University of Petroleum (East China). The museum is recognized as a National Education Base for Promoting the Spirit of Scientists, a Shandong Provincial Base for Teacher Ethics Development, and a Qingdao Patriotism Education Base. Its exhibitions highlight the University's development alongside the growth of the People's Republic of China, the evolution of the nation's petroleum industry, and the advancement of higher education in petroleum-related disciplines.
National Conditions Training
Through the visit and study program, faculty members further strengthened their sense of responsibility and mission in fostering talent for the nation and contributing to national development through higher education. Participants remarked that they would translate the insights gained from the program into concrete actions to support the School's future development and devote themselves to teaching, research, and academic service with renewed enthusiasm and commitment.
