On the afternoon of June 22, the School of Materials Science and Engineering held its “Tea Talk” Faculty–Student Forum and Symposium for the Class of 2026 at the Multi-functional Hall of the Wanghaiyuan Harbor Student Community Service Center on the West Coast Campus. The event was chaired by Yang Wenzhao, Secretary of the School Youth League Committee.

At the beginning of the meeting, Hu Shuangshuang, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of the School, announced the Decision on the Appointment of 12 Outstanding Graduates, Including Wang Shuo, as Educational and Teaching Information Officers for the Class of 2026. Du Junhua, Party Secretary of the School, and Cui Hongzhi, Dean of the School, presented appointment certificates to the newly appointed student information officers.
During the symposium, student representatives shared their learning and research experiences and offered constructive suggestions on a wide range of topics, including the School’s development, talent cultivation, internship and practical training opportunities, university–industry collaboration, laboratory development, and career guidance. Faculty members listened carefully to the students’ feedback and engaged in in-depth discussions, providing detailed responses to the issues raised.

Du Junhua noted that the students’ suggestions reflected the strong sense of responsibility and positive spirit of the School’s students. She emphasized that the School would carefully study and adopt these recommendations to further refine its educational practices, improve operational efficiency, and continuously enhance both the quality of talent cultivation and student services. She encouraged the graduating students to become dream-chasers with a deep commitment to the nation, individuals who combine knowledge with action through lifelong learning and continuous self-improvement, and proud members of the School who remain connected with and supportive of their alma mater. She concluded by wishing all graduates every success in their future endeavors.

Dean Cui Hongzhi expressed her appreciation for the graduates’ concern for the School’s development. She reviewed the School’s recent achievements in faculty development, research platform enhancement, curriculum optimization, university–industry collaboration, and talent cultivation. She stated that the School would carefully evaluate the students’ suggestions and integrate them into the implementation of its 15th Five-Year Development Plan and annual priorities, steadily advancing reform and innovation to create a better environment for student growth and success. While consolidating existing achievements, the School will continue to improve its management practices and operational efficiency, further strengthening its overall competitiveness and academic influence. She concluded by encouraging the graduates to pursue their aspirations with confidence while carrying the School’s best wishes into the next stage of their journey.

More than 30 participants attended the symposium, including members of the School leadership team, department heads, representatives of graduating class advisors, faculty supervisors, laboratory center staff, administrative personnel, and student representatives from the graduating class.
