The China International College Students Innovation Competition (2025) was held at Zhengzhou University from October 12th to 15th. The project Carbon Ocean Dream Building - Green Intelligent Manufacturing Leader of Algina-based Functional Carbon Materials from the School of Materials Science and Engineering won the silver award as the only project in the postgraduate creative group of the main track of higher education in this year's competition, marking a historic breakthrough for the school since its participation in this event.

The China International College Students Innovation Competition (2025) is jointly hosted by 11 departments including the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Henan Province, and organized by Zhengzhou University and the People's Government of Zhengzhou City. This year's competition, with the theme of I Dare to Venture, I Can Innovate, has attracted 6.19 million projects and 24.43 million participants from 5,673 schools in 161 countries and regions around the world since its launch in April. A total of 4,720 projects were shortlisted for the finals, covering five major categories: the higher education main track, the Youth Red Dream-Building Journey track, the vocational education track, the industry track, and the sprout track.
Since the launch of this competition, the college has strengthened top-level design, optimized resource allocation, and promoted the in-depth integration of innovation and entrepreneurship education with professional teaching and scientific research practice. During the preparation period, under the guidance of the Academic Affairs Office, we made overall arrangements for competition interpretation, experience sharing, one-on-one project refinement, mock roadshows, defense training and other links, constantly improving the quality of the projects and the competitiveness of the team. During the provincial competition, the college won one gold award and two bronze awards. During the national competition, one project from the college made it to the finals and won the silver award. Both the national and provincial competitions achieved the best results in history.

In recent years, the School of Materials Science and Engineering has attached great importance to the scientific and technological innovation work of college students and supported them to actively participate in various competitions by introducing reward measures and other means. In the future, the college will fully leverage its disciplinary advantages, focus on the goal of cultivating innovative talents, continuously improve the forms of innovative practical education, constantly stimulate students' enthusiasm for scientific research, enhance their innovative practical abilities, and help them shine on a broader stage.
