On September 20, the campus tour of Advanced Powder Materials (APM) visited the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Ocean University of China. The event was hosted by Professor Wang Huanlei, Vice Dean of the college, and provided a high-level academic feast for faculty and students through journal presentations and academic lectures.

Professor Lei Yongpeng, Associate Editor of APM and a professor at Central South University, delivered a presentation titled Building a High-Quality Platform, Publishing Outstanding Research, and Creating a First-Class Journal. He introduced the journal’s development background and positioning, with a focus on explaining its mission and distinctive features. He emphasized that APM concentrates on cutting-edge innovations in powder materials and related interdisciplinary fields, aiming to publish high-level original research and elevate the voice of Chinese materials science on the international stage. Drawing on years of experience in journal editing, Professor Lei also shared valuable insights on writing high-quality papers and submitting to academic journals.

In the academic sharing session, Professor Lei presented on the topic of Atomically Dispersed Catalysts and Their Applications in Metal-Air Batteries, systematically explaining his team’s latest research achievements in the field of single/dual-atom catalysts. The content covered atomic coordination regulation, synergistic oxygen catalysis, and zinc interface optimization, among other aspects. He highlighted that by exploring the intrinsic relationship between catalyst structure and battery performance, the team successfully addressed bottlenecks in interfacial synergy of traditional materials, achieving breakthroughs in both fundamental research and applied technology. The lecture not only broadened the academic horizons of the attendees but also deepened their understanding of the application prospects of materials science. Professor Lei emphasized that the ultimate value of scientific research lies in its practical application. He encouraged young students to step out of the laboratory, seize opportunities of the times, and boldly explore innovations, demonstrating responsibility and commitment in advancing the discipline and serving national strategies.

This APM campus tour not only enhanced students’ understanding of the operational mechanisms of international academic journals but also provided new perspectives and directions for their scientific research development. It further ignited the enthusiasm of faculty and students to engage in materials science research.
