On June 13, the university officially established the Ocean University of China-Shandong Guotaidacheng Technology Co., Ltd. Marine Special Carbon Fiber Composite Materials Engineering Research Center, which will be operated under the School of Materials Science and Engineering.
The Marine Special Carbon Fiber Composite Materials Engineering Research Center will focus on product research of high-performance carbon fiber composites for marine environments. It aims to address key challenges such as corrosion resistance, interfacial bonding, and efficient joining of dissimilar materials in marine applications of carbon fiber composites. The center will promote the application of high-performance carbon fibers, especially T800-grade and above products, in marine equipment and engineering, driving high-quality development in the carbon fiber industry and supporting national marine engineering strategies.
By aligning with the country's strategic needs for marine engineering and carbon fiber composites, the center will integrate scientific and technological resources from both parties. It will leverage the complementary strengths of industry and academia, including research personnel, experimental facilities, and equipment, to foster collaboration and teamwork. The center will establish a cooperative system that integrates technology development, demonstration applications, and industrial development.
