On October 20th, President Zhang Junfeng conducted an investigation at the School of Materials Science and Engineering.
After listening to the report by Cui Hongzhi, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, regarding the construction of the faculty team, talent cultivation, construction of disciplinary platforms, scientific research and social services, preparations for the centenary celebration of the university, as well as future development plans of the school, Zhang Junfeng affirmed the development and achievements of the school in recent years. He pointed out that the materials discipline plays an important supporting role for national strategic needs, and a first-class materials discipline is an important symbol of a high-level university. In the context of the rapid development and increasingly fierce competition of materials disciplines in China, the school should adhere to the Four Orientations, further refine the development direction of the discipline, strengthen the marine characteristics, highlight the marine advantages, and integrate the characteristics into the mainstream. It is necessary to strengthen the construction of the talent team, increase the efforts in talent introduction, strive to introduce discipline leaders, and do a good job in the cultivation and support of young teachers. It is necessary to adhere to the construction of the school with an engineering mindset, and strengthen the construction of the engineering technology and experimental teams. It is necessary to continuously optimize the experimental conditions, strengthen the configuration of high-precision and cutting-edge equipment, and further enhance the support of the school-running conditions.
